Our story began in 2005 when our Founder and Director, Karen Mattison MBE, identified a gap in the recruitment market. She realised from her own business experience that employers often want to recruit part time staff to make the most of their budget. But they find it difficult to access high calibre part time candidates through traditional recruitment agencies.
At the same time, Karen realised that there was a large talent pool of excellent part time candidates, amongst her own network of professional mums. Lack of flexible job opportunities was keeping their valuable skills and talents out of the workplace.
The early days
Having discovered an untapped talent-base of candidates, and a clear need amongst recruiters, Karen co-founded a business called Women Like Us. Its aim was to put professional women, who wanted part time work, in touch with employers who valued their skills and experience.
Over the next 8 years, the business built up a large database of part time candidates in the London area, reaching out through local networks untouched by traditional recruitment services. Women Like Us became hugely successful, and is rarely out of the news. Karen and co-founder Emma Stewart are now leading spokespeople on the part time recruitment market.
Timewise Recruitment launched
We learned two key lessons from our early years:
- Putting business benefits at the heart of everything we do, is the way to develop the part time recruitment market
- Part time was never just a women’s issue. It is attractive to many sectors of society – people developing portfolio careers and people approaching retirement, to name just two.
So now we’re taking our recruitment service to a whole new level. We’re an experienced team with a passion to help employers benefit from part time job design. And we have a renewed vision to grow a strong part time recruitment market.
